What is STS?
Science and Technology Studies (STS) is the interdisciplinary academic field that studies how science and technology shape and are shaped by society. Also known as Science-Technology-Society, STS has a rich history reaching back to early philosophers of science, and is currently growing in significance at many universities as a bridge between the hard sciences, social sciences, history, and other areas of research.
STS is a valuable field that helps scientists and engineers think not only about what’s possible, but about the importance and impact of their work, and how that work is done.
